The recently released JCB Loadall 546-70 and Loadall 555-70 telescopic handlers have a shared full lift height rating of 7 metres (23 feet). They’ve been designed to deliver greater lift capacity, tear-out force, and break-out force to agricultural and construction customers.

“The new Loadall 546-70 and 555-70 illustrate JCB’s determination to meet the evolving needs of farmers and contractors with innovative and productivity-led solutions,” says JCB Managing Director John Smith. “In this case, by introducing two new Loadall models with increased performance in a package no larger—and therefore just as agile as—our existing 7.0-metre machines.”

    JCB Loadall 546-70 & 555-70 Specifications

The new JCB telehandlers both have a 160-litre (42.3-gallon)-per-minute, load-sensing Smart Hydraulics system that recovers power as the boom lowers to the surface. However, they are available with different performance and equipment packages as follows:

    JCB Loadall 546-70

    • 4.6-tonne (5.1-U.S.-ton) lift capacity (8.7% more than the Loadall 542-70)
    • 7-m lift height
    • Available in:
      • Agri Super with 130 horsepower (97 kilowatts) and 40 km/h (25 mph) road speed
      • Agri Xtra, 150 HP (112 kW), 40 km/h
      • Agri Pro, 173 HP (129 kW), 50 km/h (31 mph)

    JCB Loadall 555-70

    • 5.5-t (6.1-U.S.-t) lift capacity (nearly 24% more than the Loadall 542-70)
    • 7-m full height
    • Available in:
      • Agri Xtra, 150 HP, 40 km/h
      • Agri Pro, 173 HP, 50 km/h

    Features In Common

Both telehandlers use JCB’s DualTech VT drive, which automatically shifts between hydrostatic and powershift elements. At slower ground speeds, the hydrostatic part supplies precise manoeuvrability, while the direct-drive powershift takes over at higher speeds for greater tractive force and power efficiency.

On the road, the faster, higher-power Agri Pro package operates in rear-wheel drive to enhance acceleration and traction while towing. During braking, the Agri Pro driveline switches into four-wheel drive to reduce stopping distance.

    Sway Control & Other Options

Agri Xtra and Agri Pro versions of the new JCBs have a Sway Control option, which can help to level the machine for better stability on cross-slopes or uneven terrain. The operator can activate Sway Control from inside the cabin, along with its double-acting hydraulic cylinder between the chassis and front axle.

Other available options include JCB's new IntelliAssist system of automated boom and attachment functions, the new IntelliWeigh load-weighing system, and air trailer braking.
