JCB Introduces The 525-60E, Its First-Ever All-Electric Loadall Telehandler

JCB pioneered the telehandler concept in 1977 and it has been innovating on it ever since. The latest innovation comes in the form of the JCB 525-60E, an all-new, all-electric compact telehandler launched in mid-November that also marks JCB’s first-ever electric Loadall model. The 525-60E joins the 19C-1E mini excavator, 30-19E Teletruk forklift, ITE and HTD-5E dumpers, and various access platforms in JCB’s E-TECH lineup of electric equipment and uses the same onboard charger, recharging its 96V lithium-ion battery in eight hours via standard charging. An optional JCB Universal Charger provides rapid top-up charges in 35 minutes or less.

    Electric Benefits

Along with producing zero carbon dioxide emissions, the 525-60E’s electric operation also means far less noise output. In-cab noise levels are rated at 66.7dB and external levels at 92.2dB. Those benefits position the 525-60E well for construction, agriculture, and other industry sectors, whether the given application involves working inside, underground, or in urban areas where stringent emissions regulations exist. The 525-60E uses one 17-kilowatt electric motor for its driveline and another 22-kW motor to power its hydraulic system, including a fixed-displacement gear pump with a maximum flow of 80 litres per minute.

The 525-60E offers the same 3.7-m outside turn radius and external dimensions as its diesel-based 525-60 sibling; JCB says it designed the 525-60E to deliver similar cycle times as the diesel model with no performance loss. The electric Loadall has a 2,500-kilogram maximum lift capacity and 2,000-kg lift capacity at its full 6-metre lift height. Features include a ROPS and FOPS certified cab with low-profile pod design that provides enhanced visibility, single-lever joystick control, heated air suspension seat, JCB’s Load Control System, and regenerative brakes and hydraulics.
