Read More (About JLG)JLG is a leading international designer and manufacturer of lift and access equipment that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. Serving the construction, agriculture, landscaping, mining, warehouse, distribution, aviation, and other industries, JLG began operations in 1969 when John L. Grove founded the company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. Grove reportedly saw a need for equipment that could safely lift workers to complete various tasks. With just 20 initial employees in tow, JLG sold its first aerial work platform in 1970.
Oshkosh Corporation—a designer and builder of access equipment and specialty trucks and owner of the Pierce, McNeilus, IMT, London, and Jerr-Dan brands—acquired JLG in 2006. As of 2022, JLG has operations in Australia, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East, New Zealand, North America, the Pacific Rim, and Russia.
After selling its first aerial work platform in 1970, JLG introduced its first scissor lift in 1976, expanded into the European market in 1977, produced its 10,000th boom lift in 1986, and launched the first 150-foot boom lift (the 150HAX) in 1991. After introducing its first mobile vertical lift in 1996, JLG produced its 50,000th scissor lift in 1998 and 100,000th in 2001. After being acquired by Oshkosh in 2006, JLG manufactured its 100,000th North American-made self-propelled boom lift in 2007, introduced its ClearSky telematics service in 2009, and introduced the world’s largest self-propelled boom lift—the 185OSJ—in 2014. In 2015, JLG produced its 100,000th telehandler. In 2018, the company produced its 250,000th North American-manufactured self-propelled boom lift.
In addition to JLG- and SkyTrak-branded telehandlers (or telescopic forklifts), JLG also produces engine-powered articulating and telescopic boom lifts and articulating, compact crawler, telescopic, and Toucan-branded mast electric and hybrid boom lifts. Other JLG products include personnel lifts, drop-deck trailers, the RS carrier, push-around and drive-able vertical lifts and order pickers (or stock pickers), electric and engine-powered scissor lifts, trailer-mounted boom lifts, and utility vehicles. The company offers ClearSky telematics for machine management, as well as the safety-minded ClearSky Access Control system.
JLG is perhaps best known for its wide range of boom lifts, and you’ll typically find thousands of new and used telescopic, articulating, and trailer-mounted boom lifts for sale on this site. The most popular models tend to be the JLG 400S, JLG 600S, and JLG 600SJ telescopic boom lifts, and the JLG 450AJ articulating boom lifts.
