Launched in 2011 and built in Kalmar's Shanghai factory, this model is designed for flexible and efficient handling of fully laden containers in ports, terminals, and industrial environments . It combines high performance with the renowned Kalmar quality and reliability, offering a safe and productive solution for medium-sized port operations and container depots .
Design and Construction
· Durable Build: The machine is constructed with a high-strength, corrosion-resistant steel frame and a robust lifting boom, designed for continuous heavy-duty use in harsh environments . The lifting boom features an optimized design in high-tensile steel with a minimal number of welds for maximum strength .
· Hydraulic System: Equipped with advanced, load-sensing pumps that deliver power only when needed, contributing to fuel efficiency and smoother, more precise movements .
· Operator Comfort and Visibility: The DRT450 series is available with an optional hydraulic sliding driver cabin, which significantly improves visibility and safety when handling containers at height or in tight spaces . The ergonomic enclosed cabin provides a comfortable and safe workspace .
Powertrain and Options
· Engine Options: To comply with various regional legislation and operational needs, the DRT450 offers a choice of two powerful diesel engines: the Yuchai YC6M360 or the Cummins QSM11, with power ratings up to 243 kW . The engine is paired with a heavy-duty Dana transmission and a Kalmar drive axle .
· Performance: It achieves travel speeds of up to 25 km/h when unloaded and maintains strong gradeability for navigating terminal ramps .
